Cristo Labs is a research lab studying how digital infrastructure, supply chains & financial systems in emerging markets withstand stress, absorb shocks, and recover from disruption. We develop computational frameworks — grounded in machine learning and decision theory — to measure what conventional risk models miss.

Emerging markets are not small versions of developed economies. Their financial institutions are heterogeneous. Their supply chains carry concentrated risks invisible in global averages. Their digital infrastructure operates at scales and speeds that Western models were never calibrated for. Their resilience — to crises, to climate shocks, to capital flow reversals — is shaped by structures that the dominant literature largely overlooks.
Cristo Labs exists to close that gap.
We work at the intersection of three intellectual traditions that rarely converge in applied research: physics-inspired statistical methods, machine learning, and multi-criteria decision analysis. We apply them to questions that matter to emerging-market policymakers, regulators, and institutions.
Computational frameworks for assessing the stability of digital public goods — payment systems, identity infrastructure, open networks — that now underpin emerging market economies.
Quantitative ranking of supplier networks under uncertainty. Concentration risk in emerging market manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural supply chains. Single-source dependencies and recovery modelling.
Stability scoring for non-bank financial institutions, microfinance lenders, cooperative banks, and regional banks. Regime detection in emerging market credit cycles. Resilience of real-time payment infrastructure.
Cross-country resilience comparison. Climate stress transmission to financial systems. Sovereign and currency stress as drivers of institutional fragility.
